CMT Centers of Excellence-clinics with caregivers who know about CMT

The Centers of Excellence have been established to ensure that CMT patients are provided with high-quality medical care. Patients will be evaluated in a uniform manner, and the information that is gathered will provide valuable data for clinical research in CMT.

This uniform data, compiled from the CMT Neuropathy Score (CMTNS) and the Neuropathy Impairment Score (NIS), will be used for future natural history studies and clinical trials. A second goal of the Centers is to give patients the opportunity to have their DNA sample banked for analysis and gene identification.

The Centers of Excellence are funded by both the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. These Centers have been chosen because of the quality and experience of the doctors who will serve as the Primary Investigators.
